Comprehensive dental exams not only check for tooth decay and gum health but also examine your medical history, your entire mouth, head, and neck area. The comprehensive exam will likely include these evaluations:

• Head and neck

• Soft tissue

• Gum tissue

• Occlusion

• Clinical examination of teeth

The second part of your initial dental appointment will often include X-rays. At Inspired Dental we use Digital x- rays that help to significantly lower radiation exposure. In fact, by using digital x-rays instead of traditional x-ray imaging, our patients’ exposure to radiation can be reduced by as much as 90 percent!

Oral Cancer Screening

As an important part of our comprehensive exam, Dr. Puerto uses both a visual oral cancer exam and a device that uses multi-spectrum fluorescence technology with three distinct color wavelengths, which makes early visualization and identification of oral cancer and pre-malignant dangerous conditions.

Remember, early dental care often translates to less dental care down the road. With at least two regular oral exams and professional teeth cleanings, problem areas can be treated before they become worse.
